Call for Applications: NAS 2015 Courses at ICUA

In 2015 ICUA Zadar will continue to organize Nautical Archaeological Society (NAS) courses. NAS courses aim to provide not just an introduction to the underwater archaeology, but also offer people a chance to build their skills and experience, allowing them to take part in projects and fieldwork around the world and perhaps to run their own projects.

The ICUA Team will conduct NAS courses during 2015 in Veštar bay close to Rovinj. Theoretical lectures will be conducted at the diving club The Old Diver in Campsite Veštar close to Rovinj, and practical exercises will be conducted in the Veštar bay.

Veštar is an interesting archaeological site that has a continuity of use since prehistoric times, and the most intense life took place here during Antiquity and Medieval times. This is evidenced by several underwater moles found in the bay as well as a multitude of small archaeological finds in the sea. During the stay in Veštar, course attendees will be able to see underwater sites and actively participate in their documentation. More about the bay and archaeological excavations that were carried out in recent years from the ICUA team can be seen under Publications on ICUA web page (http://www.icua.hr/hr/publikacije).
