International conference ‘’Maritime Renaissance – Adriatic Trade Routes in Late Medieval and Post Medieval Period’’, ICUA Zadar, Zadar, 5 - 7 November 2020

The call for papers has been announced for the international expert conference ‘’Maritime Renaissance – Adriatic Trade Routes in Late Medieval and Post Medieval Period’’ that will take place in Zadar from 5 and 7 November 2020.
The conference will be organized by ICUA Zadar in partnership with the Department of Archaeology of the University of Zadar. The event is generously supported by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and the Central European Initiative Fund. The conference programme will be staged at the University of Zadar’s Great Hall and will be open for the public.

PARTICIPATION IN THE IIC-ITCC 2019 Workshop - ‘'Scientific Approaches to Ceramics and Glass Conservation’' The Palace Museum, Beijing, People's Republic of China

ICUA Zadar conservator-restorer Martina Ćurković Madiraca attended the workshop ''Scientific Approaches to Ceramics and Glass Conservation'' in Beijing (People's Republic of China) from 11th to 22nd November 2019. The fifth IIC-ITCC workshop was co-organized by the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works and Palace Museum on the subject of ceramics and glass conservation. In addition to the representative from Croatia, a total of 24 conservators and scientists attended the workshop, 12 of them from PR China and 12 from other countries: Belgium, Cambodia, Greece, Hong Kong, Iran, Lithuania, Germany, Serbia, Singapore, Turkey and United Kingdom. The official language of the workshop was English. The lectures and hands-on work were delivered by the following distinguished speakers: Sarah Staniforth, Chandra Reedy, Austin Nevin, Norman Tennent, Franike Halahan and experts from the Palace Museum.

Croatian-Polish cooperation on underwater research in Nin

In the period from October 14th to 18th, the first campaign of underwater archaeological exploration of the Nin area was conducted. MCPA Zadar's underwater archaeologists conducted this research in cooperation with Polish colleagues from the University of Nicolaus Copernicus from Toruń. The students of the University of Toruń are: Filip Nalaksowski, Alicja Bieniek, Mciej Rzad, Kamila Kociszewska, Jan Jarosz, Michal Gliszczynski, and they were led by Professor Ph.D. Andrzej Pydyn and Pawel Stencel of the newly founded Center for Underwater Archeology in Torun.
