MCPA joined underwater research in Risan, Montenegro

The staff of the International Center for Underwater Archeology in Zadar, Maja Kaleb and Mladen Pešić, participated in the period from 28th August to 2nd of September 2017 in underwater archaeological reconnaissance of the Montenegrin coast. At the invitation of colleagues from the Center for Conservation and Archaeology of Montenegro - Cetinje, these underwater researches represent continuation of the cooperation that began during the workshop "Protection and promotion of underwater cultural heritage - national and regional experiences" held in late 2016 in Cetinje. During a one-week stay in Montenegro, MCPA representatives joined the project "Underwater Archaeological Research of Risan waters 2017". The aim of the research was to map the underwater archaeological finds in the area of Risan, the famous Illyrian and Roman settlement. After the completion of field research, the obtained data will serve Montenegrin colleagues to evaluate the establishment of measures and regime of protection, presentation and preservation of the cultural values of Risan waters.
