Cancellation of the international conference ''Maritime Renaissance'' in Zadar, Croatia, November 5 - 7, 2020

On behalf of the organizing committee, ICUA Zadar would like to announce that the international conference ‘’Maritime Renaissance - Adriatic Trade Routes in Late Medieval and Post Medieval Period'' which was supposed to take place in Zadar, November 5 - 7, 2020 is cancelled due to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

The reason for this decision is the coronavirus which has caused new and stringent travel regulations in Europe, the consequence of which was a cancellation of the majority of foreign lecturers and key-note speakers who wanted to attend the event. And last but not least it is important for ICUA Zadar to ensure the health and safety of conference attendees.

The Conference is postponed for the year 2022 given that the city of Zadar will be hosting the 16th International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology – ISSBSA16 from September 26 to October 1, 2021, organized as a collaborative effort of the University of Zadar, ICUA Zadar, Archaeological Museum Zadar and Museum of Ancient Glass. ICUA Zadar will use the same frame for the ‘’Maritime Renaissance 2022’’ conference as for ‘’Maritime Renaissance 2020’’, including invited key-note speakers and lecturers. It was decided to keep the Conference name to retain the virtual recognition of the event. For that reason the Conference website will be maintained to share updates. ICUA Zadar will announce a Call for papers in 2021 for new interested participants.
