Poziv na prijavu: Tečajevi NAS u MCPA-u 2015.

Međunarodni centar za podvodnu arheologiju u Zadru nastavlja organizirati Nautical Archaeological Society (NAS) tečajeve i tijekom 2014. NAS-ovi tečajevi ne daju samo uvod u temu podvodne arheologije , nego polaznicima nude priliku da steknu vještine i iskustvo, omogućujući im da sudjeluju u projektima i terenskom radu diljem svijeta i, možda, pokrenu vlastite projekte.

Organizacijski tim MCPA će tijekom 2014. provoditi NAS tečajeve koji će se održati u uvali Veštar pokraj Rovinja.

Call for applications: Underwater Archaeological Finds Conservation and Restoration Courses, winter 2015

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology (ICUA) is once again organising courses in the restoration and conservation of underwater archaeological finds – to be held in Zadar, Croatia in the period from 1st January - 1st May 2015.
This international course is targeted to the practical and theoretical training of candidates for independent work in the restoration and conservation of underwater archaeological finds.

Call for Applications: Advanced Underwater Archaeology Course 2014

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology (ICUA), category 2 centre under the auspices of UNESCO, in Zadar, is launching its third Advanced Underwater Archaeology Course. It will last 2 weeks and will take place in the Pula area, Croatia, from 15 to 27 September 2014. The course is organized with the support of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (Venice, Italy).

Call for applications: Underwater Archaeological Finds Conservation and Restoration Courses, winter 2013/2014

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology (ICUA) is once again organising courses in the restoration and conservation of underwater archaeological finds – to be held in Zadar, Croatia in the period from 1 November 2013 to 1 April 2014. This international course is targeted to the practical and theoretical training of candidates for independent work in the restoration and conservation of underwater archaeological finds. The courses will consist of practical work under the supervision of a mentor at the workshops of the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology (ICUA) in Zadar. Candidates will have the opportunity to select work on the various materials treated at the three main workshops that deal with metal, ceramic and glass, and organic finds. Training will be provided by ICUA Zadar staff, pursuant to the course programme manual and the standards valid for the ICUA/UNESCO advanced course staged in 2011. Candidates can choose from a number of modules. We are planning a one-month Advanced Course that can be staged in one of the three main workshops, or a two-week Introductory Course that will involve work in all three workshops. At the end of the course candidates will take an exam on the theoretical and practical segments, after which they will be entitled to a certificate confirming that they have passed our Centre's course for specialised conservators/restorers of underwater archaeological finds.

The Illyrian Coastal Exploration Program 2013 Field School

We're offering a two-week Field School in Zadar, Croatia and Bar, Montenegro from July 8th to July 21st 2013. This event is organised by the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar, Center for Conservation and Archaeology at Cetinje - Montenegro, RPM Nautical Foundation and Transylvania University. Academic credit for courses offered by the ICEP are offered through Transylvania, one of the oldest universities in the US. Application deadline for Field School is 1.5.2013. Call for Applications: Advanced Underwater Archaeology Course 2013 (Deadline: 9 July 2013, 12am)

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology (ICUA) in Zadar is launching its second Advanced Underwater Archaeology Course. The course will have a duration of 2 weeks and will take place in Pula, Croatia, from 16th September to 28th September 2013. The course is organized with the support of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (UNESCO Venice Office).
The course will consist of theoretical and practical (hands on) instructions in the techniques of underwater archaeological excavation, data processing and use of new technologies in underwater documentation. Archaeologists from ICUA and guest lecturers will conduct theoretical lessons, complemented by optional courses in specialty diving according to the requirements of the SSI or PADI system. Practical instruction will take place in the frame of underwater archaeological researches of ancient shipwrecks in Ližnjan, Pula environs, in order to prepare the participants to actively take part as a regular member of an underwater archaeological excavations team.
The course’s expected beneficiaries are archaeologists who have diving experience and at least some basic practical underwater archaeology experience. The course is designed to develop advanced skills and experience in underwater archaeological work and project planning basics.
Participation costs, intended as board and lodging for the participants, plus teaching activities and use of diving equipment during the course, will be covered by the organizers. Participants will be admitted to the study programme based on the specific requirements that apply.

Call for Applications: Basic Underwater Archaeology Course 2013 (Deadline: 15 May 2013, 12am)

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology Zadar (ICUA) is organising a 2-week basic training course on underwater archaeology, due to take place in Zadar, Croatia, on 3rd – 15th June 2013. The course is organized with the support of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (UNESCO Venice Office).
The course will consist of theoretical and practical (hands on) instruction in the basic techniques of underwater archaeological excavation. Archaeologists from ICUA, Han-Vrana and the University of Zadar will conduct theoretical lessons, complemented by courses in diving and specialty diving according to the requirements of the SSI or PADI system. Practical instruction will take place in the frame of archaeological researches in the Pakoštane, Zadar environs, in order to allow the participants acquire the best possible knowledge of basic research techniques.
The course’s expected beneficiaries are archaeologists who have no or scarce diving experience, as well as experts in different disciplines (conservators, geologists, marine biologists, etc) who are interested in developing multidisciplinary skills and participate in underwater archaeology researches.
Participation costs, intended as board and lodging for the participants, plus teaching activities and use of diving equipment during the course, will be covered by the organizers. Participants will be admitted to the study programme based on the specific requirements that apply.

Tečajevi NAS u MCPA-u 2013.

Međunarodni centar za podvodnu arheologiju u Zadru nastavlja  organizirati NAS-ove tečajeve i tijekom 2013. Drago nam je što možemo objaviti da ćemo od ove godine nuditi i NAS-ove module II i III polaznicima koji žele napredovati u NAS-ovu sustavu.

NAS-ovi tečajevi ne daju samo uvod u temu nego polaznicima nude priliku da steknu vještine i iskustvo, omogućujući im da sudjeluju u projektima i terenskom radu diljem svijeta i, možda, pokrenu vlastite projekte.

Organizacijska ekipa MCPA će tijekom 2013. provoditi tečajeve u tri tjedne grupe, a na vama je da izaberete module koje želite pohađati.

Poziv na prijavu za NAS Uvodni tečaj i tečaj I. stupanj u Zadru, Hrvatska

Od 15. - 18. listopada 2012.g. Međunarodni centar za podvodnu arheologiju u Zadru (MCPA) organizira tečaj podvodne arheologije prema programu Nautical Archaeological Society (NAS). Tijekom četiri dana provoditi će se dva tečaja: NAS Uvod u priobalnu i podvodnu arheologiju i tečaj NAS I stupanj priobalne i podvodne arheologije. Tečaj uvoda u priobalnu i podvodnu arheologiju će se sastojati od teoretskih predavanja - vrste podvodnih nalazišta i metode datiranja, podvodni nalazi, 2D dokumentiranje, te praktičnog dijela  - crtanje na kopnu i pod vodom. Tečaj I. stupanja priobalne i podvodne arheologije će se sastojati od teoretskih predavanja - provođenje arheološkog projekta, lociranje i upoznavanje nalazišta, sigurnost tijekom izvođenja projekta i logistika, 3D dokumentiranje, briga o nalazima, aktivnosti nakon iskopavanja te praktičnog dijela - upoznavanje nalazišta i dokumentacija nalazišta. Teoretski dio će se održati u prostorijama Međunarodnog centra za podvodnu arheologiju. Praktični dio održat će se na arheološkom nalazištu kod Zadra.

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology (ICUA) of Zadar is organizing a 2-week "Advanced underwater archaeology course" (hereinafter, the Course), due to take place in Pula, Croatia, from September 10 to September 22, 2012. The course is organised with the support of the UNESCO Office in Venice. Deadline for applications is August 3, 2012, 3pm.
The course will consist of theoretical and practical (hands on) instructions in the techniques of underwater archaeological excavation. Archaeologists from ICUA and guest lecturers will conduct theoretical lessons, complemented by optional courses in specialty diving according to the requirements of the Scuba Schools International (SSI) system. Practical instruction will take place in the frame of underwater archaeological researches of ancient shipwrecks in the Pula environs, in order to prepare the participants to actively take part as a regular member of an underwater archaeological excavations team.
The course’s expected beneficiaries are archaeologists who have diving experience and some basic practical underwater archaeology experience. The course is designed to develop professional skills and capacities in underwater archaeological work and project planning.
Participation costs, intended board and lodging for the participants, plus teaching activities and use of diving equipment during the course, will be covered by the organisers. Participants will be admitted to the study programme based on the specific requirements that apply.
