During the period from November 4th to 8th 2019, International Cntre for Underwater Archaeology izn Zadar organized the “Underwater Archaeology Practical Workshop”. Workshop participants Moussa Wele (Senegal), Eleonore Basnard (France), Sara Zaia (Italy) and Edgar Llordella Moreno (Spain) had the opportunity to learn new skills and improve their knowledge during an intensive one-week course. The trainees, together with ICUA Zadar staff, carried out the usual activity in the form of an underwater survey based on notice of the local divers. An inspection of Radnjača Cove on the Vir island in Zadar County was carried out and the most significant archaeological finds from the Roman period were collected, while a large amount of tegulae in the northern part of the cove was documented in situ with underwater cameras. The next three days were spent on Dugi otok, in the bay of Lučina in small place called Brbinj. At the Pod Narat position, two ballast piles from the modern period were confirmed. During the two days, the participants take part in all methodological excavation activities; from assembling metal construction for probes and collecting surface archaeological finds to working with a water pump and water dredges, and documentation of the archaeological finds. Following the underwater research, the participants of the workshop, together with expert guide, had a chance to see different archaeological artefacts exhibited in the ICUA Gallery of Underwater Archaeology, the Museum of Ancient Glass and the Archaeological Museum in Zadar.
